Emergency! - Official Announcement

Just days after we brought you news that Universal would release Emergency! season 1 on August 23, we have official word from the studio.

This 2 disc set (double-sided) will contain 11 episodes from the first season, plus the two-part pilot movie (655 mins). The full frame (1.33:1) picture will be accompanied by an English mono track, and English/Spanish subtitles. Suggested retail price will be $39.98.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has made black and white Emergency artwork available for us. We asked about a color version, but it's still being tweaked, and won't be ready for awhile. That means we get two opportunities to show you artwork (aren't you excited?). There have been a number of people email us to express their excitement over this title, so we wanted to show you the artwork ASAP. If you want more information, or need a place to order it from, please see the DVD Release Info page for the title.

We realize, as other huge fans of the series will as well, that the box art design shows the Paramedics of the show in front of Station 51's fire truck rather than their own medically-equipped vehicle they were seen to drive, but it's no surprise that the studio wanted to emphasize the program's "firefighter" aspects, which is what many casual fans remember most about each episode.

Emergency! - New Artwork - Menu Shot - Synopsis

Help is just a call away on 11 newly re-mastered, action-packed episodes of the complete first season of Emergency! - the pioneering TV series that was on of the first to show the real-life drama of those who save lives every day. Race to the scene with the heroic men of paramedic Squad 51 and the emergency staff of Rampart Hospital as they respond round-the-clock to LA's most dire emergencies, from women in labor to an out-of-control epidemic. Kevin Tighe and Randolph Mantooth lead an acclaimed cast as two hard-working paramedics trying to deal with the daily crises of their job with wit, humor and bravery. Along for the ride in the complete season are such popular guest stars as Jeff Donnell, Ronne Troup, and Tony Dow. Including the thrilling TV movie "The Wedsworth-Townsend Act" and available on DVD for the first time ever, it's the gripping show that blazed the trail for all action series to come!
We received many emails of disgust after we posted the artwork for Emergency: Season 1 to the site. Fans didn't like the fire engine in the background, or just didn't like the artwork at all. We forwarded your complaints to Universal, and it looks like they listened; we now have new artwork to share with you.

We've enlarged the image, and included a small sized shot of the previous artwork, along with the original size of the new artwork:

I think we can all agree that this artwork looks much nicer and fits in with the studio's other "Classic Television" titles. We hope to have a larger version early in the week.

Universal has also made a shot of the menu available (it seems to use the same "modern fire engine" background as the previous cover art shot):
