Do you get down in the winter? Need a getaway to quiet tropical island? We'd suggest heading to Gilligan's Island for some relaxation.

Warner Bros has announced that they're releasing the second season of Gilligan's Island on January 11th, 2005. This 3 disc set (double-sided) will contain all 32 color episodes from the second season (811 mins). The set will sport an English mono track, and English, French and Spanish subtitles. Suggested retail price is $39.98 US and $49.98 CAN. Special features will include an introduction, and commentary.

Warner has also sent over artwork for season two of Gilligan's Island which stars Alan Hale, Jim Backus, Tina Louise and Bob Denver. The second season will form part of a four-disc set from the 25th January next year. The retail price will be set at around $39.98. Each of the episodes will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame along with English Mono tracks. I'm afraid that we don't have any details on extra material at the moment, but we'll let you know if we hear anything.

All 32 episodes are in color as the castaways continue to struggle to survive disasters--both natural and man-made--but never stop trying to find a way to escape in this wonderfully wacky comedy series. Special guest stars include Zsa Zsa Gabor as Erika Tiffany, Janos Prohaska as The Lion, and Vito Scotti as Dr. Balinkoff.

When we first reported the details for Gilligan's Island: The Complete 2nd Season 3-DVD set (arrives Jan. 11), we didn't yet have the cover art to show you. Well, now we do...plus the disc-by-disc breakdown as well!

Disc 1 - Side A: Episodes 1-6, Introduction & Commentary
Disc 1 - Side B: Episodes 7-12
Disc 2 - Side A: Episodes 13-18
Disc 2 - Side B: Episodes 19-24
Disc 3 - Side A: Episodes 25-30
Disc 3 - Side B: Episodes 31-32

The commentary track is rumored to include participation by cast members such as Russell Johnson ("The Professor"). We're waiting on word back from Warner about that sort of detail on the extras. In the meantime, it's a no-brainer to pick this season up. It contains some of the funniest eps in the series: Mr. Howell's "evil twin", Gilligan's teeth as a radio receiver, the telephone line that washes up on shore, and of course the one where the Skipper is certain his little buddy's been eaten by a lion...and vice versa! Classic laughs at their finest; we can't wait!
