Tom Welling

De http://www.superman-v.com/

Cita:4th August 2004 - Singer offers Welling Superman - but will he accept?!?

With the search for Superman stepping up S-V have heard that Bryan Singer has offered the role of Superman to Tom Welling! This will please many fans as he is BY FAR the most requested for the role (I have the emails to prove it!) and whether you like it or not he is the fan-favourite for the role and the subject of endless debates in Superforums all over the net.

Before you start getting too excited (or angry) bear in mind that Welling has shown a reluctancy towards playing SuperMAN and from what we hear from our source that is still the case and it is unlikely that he will accept. With Singer and the Donners on board and rumours of Christopher Reeve being involved Welling MIGHT change his mind but we haven't heard anything to indicate that is the case.

The offer is on the table and we believe it is a two picture deal. With Singer wanting to get his Superman soon he wants an answer within the next 2 - 3 weeks. Singer has already had meetings with other actors to discuss the role with Eddie Cibrian (Third Watch) and Christopher Douglas (Passions) being mentioned but has only offered the role to Welling.

Unbelievable Superman News
Inside info on the casting process!

August 11, 2004 - IGN FilmForce has learned that the script pages now being used to audition actors for the title role in director Bryan Singer's forthcoming Superman movie are not from either J.J. Abrams' old draft or from the new script being penned by Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty. Instead, the casting directors auditioning contenders for the next Man of Steel are using scenes from 1978's Superman: The Movie.

The eight-page "sides" we were able to see include three scenes from Richard Donner's film. Two are "Clark Kent" scenes while the last one is a "Superman" one. The first is the scene when Clark Kent meets Perry White and Lois Lane on his first day of work at The Daily Planet.

The second scene is later that day when Clark and Lois are exiting the Planet and he uses the word "swell." The last scene is the interview between Lois Lane and Superman in her penthouse apartment. It ends right before he takes her on their nighttime flight over Metropolis.

By the way, FilmForce has also confirmed that Superman is secretly code-named Unbelievable.

Finally, the Associated Press spoke with Passion of the Christ star Jim Caviezel's manager, Beverly Dean, about the rumors that he might play Superman. "Would he like to do it? He loves Superman," said Dean. "But the truth is there has been no offer, the script isn't even finished – but absolutely he'd be interested."

"He jurado guardar el secreto," dijo Welling.

Cita:I just did an interview with Jeph Loeb where he pretty much says that Tom Welling will NOT be Superman in the upcoming WB Film. He states that Smallville is currently planned to go on for 6 seasons, and Welling's involvement would push the movie back 2 years, which is not going to happen.

Also, this Superman Returns thing was just for the press release. The movie itself is called SUPERMAN (Reeve's was called SUPERMAN THE MOVIE) and it's starting everything from scratch. Brainiac. Krypton. Robots. Alien super-cities.

Hmmm esta es la Nota en Aint' It Cool News:

Harry Knowles escribió:Jesus did not come from Krypton! Clark Kent is not a Highwayman!

Hey folks, Harry here... Jim Caviezel is not going to be Superman. In fact right now, he isn't even being considered, though his representation is pushing him. Where is the search for the last son of Krypton? It's still a wide search. I'm very curious who is feeding Mark Millar this off-kilter information... as my sources are dead on. Hmmm...
The film is currently at the stage of preliminary location scouting all over the place, word has it Bryan has only just returned from checking out Australia. Word has it, that Bryan is beginning to form ideas regarding how would do for Superman, but he has been staying mum on the project... only... they've never played Jesus or have been a TV Superman. So that's the gosh-darned truth of the matter.

¿Quien entiende a estos gringos?

Mark Millar escribió:Just to hammer home how confident I am as regards my source (pretty much as good as it gets), I will personally write a cheque to charity for 1000 dollars from my Wolverine royalties (Wolverine 20 and 21 out October 2004) if Jim Caviezel isn't cast as Superman on the day principal photography starts. Warners may have a couple of PR stunts planned prior to the final announcement, but this is a bet that Jim C is standing there in a Superman costume once the cameras start rolling.

Harry Knowles Responde!

Harry Knowles escribió:$1000 Bet Answered and Accepted regarding Jesus & SUPERMAN!

Hey folks, Harry here... I love this. I totally agree with Mark Millar - I'm willing to bet we'd be the two point crunch as Nick Frost illustrated last night, if we ever met. I like Mark Millar... Love his writing... but folks... He's WAY wrong - and he'll be paying to a great cause, and that makes me happy, cuz....

JESUS ain't SUPERMAN!

Mark Millar has issued a bet for charity, he named his charity as the CLYDE COAST MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THERAPY CENTRE... a wonderful wonderful charity. Unfortunately - the charity that I won't be paying (CUZ Jim Caviezel is not gonna be SUPERMAN in the Bryan Singer directed film) would be THE COMIC BOOK LEGAL DEFENSE FUND. So now - the good folks at Clyde Coast need only wait for the first day of photography on SUPERMAN to be 1K richer!
